The Everton manager Asserts PGMO Reluctant to Clarify Debatable Calls
The Everton boss has stated that the Professional Game Match Officials is reluctant to engage with managers because so many refereeing decisions this season have been difficult to explain. The Everton manager said he âhalf chokedâ when Fulham were awarded what proved to be a decisive penalty against Nottingham Forest on Monday.
Inconsistency in Spot-Kick Decisions Highlighted
The Toffees were refused a penalty on Saturday for a comparable incident during their home defeat by Arsenal. The manager initially held his tongue on the decision at the time but, in light of Fulhamâs penalty, feels the inconsistency of referees must be addressed.
âI was half choking last night when I saw the decision given and ours wasnât,â Moyes commented. âThere is a sense that certain clubs get those decisions and other clubs donât. It appears we are on the latter side of that.â
Previous Cases and Growing Frustration
The coach also pointed to an earlier incident in the season at Brentford involving Virgil van Dijk which was very comparable. âIt was later it was given. We are disappointed it wasnât given on the night and we are looking at others which have been missed,â he added.
Communication Breakdown with Referee Chiefs
When asked whether he intended to present his case with referee chiefs, Moyes expressed further frustration. âI donât really know,â he said. âThey donât make it easy whatever you want. They are unwilling to have a conversation about it really. They will have, but they donât want to because theyâre finding it probably very difficult to explain things.â
This position from the officials underscores a wider issue of transparency and accountability in the sportâs refereeing, as per the experienced manager.
