19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former coach Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional victory, took control to create a decider.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
