Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could help the party enter places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Planners tables.

Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
