Fans Urge Arrest of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the actress are demanding that a man who leaped a fence and seized the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A viral video shows the individual from Australia bypassing photographers and rushing toward Grande while the cast proceeded down a event pathway flanked by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers showed that he was scheduled to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile includes recordings of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney show in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the area last winter.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Followers Voice Worry Over the Star's Past Trauma
Many fans blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the end of her May 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote a further message on Instagram.
A number of supporters also criticised event staff at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while some called for online networks to block Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In clips shared widely, Grande looked surprised when she was approached by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Hundreds of fans had assembled in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be released on 21 November, is the second of a two-part version of the acclaimed theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected bond between two distinct characters.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a light pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful movie of the previous year in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, earning a pair for outstanding attire and set decoration.
